Rishant Harichunder

Rishant has been instrumental in transforming sustainability within the South African metal packaging industry through his work at MetPac-SA. In his previous role as Project Consultant, he played a key part in advancing metal packaging waste collection rates and recycling activities by building strategic partnerships, planning, and facilitating stakeholder engagement sessions, conducting research surveys, and applying advanced statistical analysis to generate actionable insights. His strong focus on project planning, communication, and technology helped strengthen MetPac-SA’s initiatives and supported the organisation’s broader goal of creating a circular economy for metals.

Rishant now serves as Operations & Quality Manager, where he leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of MetPac-SA’s operational and quality systems. A core part of his responsibility is driving the implementation of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, ensuring alignment with Section 18 of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act (NEMWA) and preparing the organisation for certification. By embedding quality principles, streamlining operational processes, and enhancing governance frameworks, Rishant is ensuring greater accountability, efficiency, and stakeholder confidence.

With a proven track record in consulting, project delivery, and a deep commitment to environmental sustainability and quality excellence, Rishant continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of South Africa’s metal packaging sector and positioning MetPac-SA as a leader in sustainable, standards-driven solutions.
